On all DISCO models, the new swinging arms can be hydraulically pivoted outwards by mm and inwards by mm (maximum travel mm) to adjust the overlap when turning corners and working across slopes. This helps to avoid unmown strips. The swing arm travel can be infinitely adjusted from the cab between . and . m. When opening the field and mowing on slopes, the overlap can be variably increased giving up to cm on each side to ensure stripe-free mowing, even with these applications. When folded into transport position, the arms automatically retract to a height of less than . m.
The two models come in above the XERION - and feature the highly efficient low-engine speed drive concept ., maximum power outputs of up to hp, the CEMOS operator assistance system, an enormous hydraulic pump capacity of up to l/min and a new spacious cab with four-point suspension. In addition, the TERRA TRAC models are equipped with newly developed, damped crawler tracks from CLAAS Industrietechnik – making them stronger than ever: stronger on profitability, stronger on tractive power, stronger on comfort and stronger on assistance.
When it came to engine technology, Mercedes-Benz was again the obvious choice. The . l OM LA six-cylinder in-line engine is familiar from the JAGUAR and LEXION and combines enormous torque with fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. In the XERION . this power unit delivers hp from rpm and up to hp in the XERION .. Turbo compound technology with wastegate turbocharger ensures enormous power development, even at low engine speeds, and maximum efficiency under full and partial load at the same time. As a result, the maximum torque – an impressive Nm in the XERION . – is available even at rpm. The idling speed is set at a low rpm.
There is a choice of two operating systems for the front loader; the E-PILOT S or the ELECTROPILOT, both within easy reach in the right-hand console. While the E-PILOT S provides fingertip control of front loader functions only, the ELECTROPILOT can also be used to operate hydraulic functions on rear implements. In addition, instead of using the lever on the left of the steering wheel console to change direction, the REVERSHIFT reverser can be operated using two pushbuttons on the ELECTROPILOT. This means that all relevant functions for front loader work can be controlled single-handedly.
With two steering axles, the TERRA TRAC and TRAC steer tightly and precisely with the cab and rear linkage remaining in mid-axle. The steering behaviour is similar to that of standard tractors: steering manoeuvres and turning operations are implement- and driver-friendly with minimal track formation. In addition to the standard steering programme with trailed rear-wheel steering, classic four-wheel steering with simultaneous steering of the front and rear axle is also available, and the TRAC can also be driven in gentle mode (reduced crab steering) for silage clamp work. The DYNAMIC STEERING function available in the standard steering programme halves the number of turns of the steering wheel needed during fieldwork and further reduces the steering torque.
