یکی از ویژگی‌های تاریخی این شهرستان اختلاط فرهنگی و دینی است.؛ از مهم‌ترین مستندات این گفته، وجود قبرستان ارامنه در کمربندی این شهر بوده که قدمتی چند ده ساله داشته و امروزه نیز مراجعین فراوانی دارد. از شمال و جنوب و شرق و غرب کشور، از همه فرهنگ‌ها، گروه‌هایی در این شهرستان سکنی دارند.
تپه مافین آباد مربوط به هزاره ۵ و قبل از میلاد است. و در اسلامشهر، در حاشیه روستای مافین آباد اسلامشهر ، جنوب شهرک قائمیه واقع شده و این اثر در تاریخ اسفند با شمارهٔ ثبت ۵ به‌عنوان یکی از آثار ملی ایران به ثبت رسیده است.. حفاریهای علمی و باستان شناسی انجام شده طی سالهای قبل از وجود آثاری مربوط به دوره پیش از تاریخ خبر می دهد . هرچند که آثار دوره اسلامی نیز در سطوح تپه مشاهده شده که به اهمیت این منطقه از نظر باستان شناسی اشاره دارد . سفالینه های به دست آمده به همراه دیگر آثار و اشیاع تاریخی این تپه را در شمار تپه های ارزشمند پیش از تاریخی ( هزاره چهارم و پنجم پیش از میلاد) قرار داده است. .
